The Loft on Ashton Lane

The Loft, which opened in 2004, is one of the more recent G1 Group developments. The controversial Glasgow entrepreneur Stefan King converted the upper part of the former Grosvenor Cinema (which has also re-opened under his leadership) into this spacious lounge bar.

One of the less sophisticated G1 establishments, the Loft’s prime attraction is its size — think of it more of a polite Wetherspoon’s than a West End version of the Corinthian; the staff are polite and efficient, but don’t expect much in the way of cocktail making away from the specified list.

Still, with a 1am license over the festive period and during the summer months, it’s hard to beat for reasonable late night prices.
